Opis

General description

Spermidine trihydrochloride is an aliphatic polyamine. Its crystalline structure has been studied. It has been reported to preserve the nuclei and prevent proteolytic degradation of histones during the macronuclei isolation from Tetrahymena pyriformis.

Application

Spermidine trihydrochloride is used for the following applications:

DNA extraction and restriction endonuclease digestion
Nuclear transplantation
During the chemical analyses of the squid species Todaropsis eblanae
As one of the agents in intercalating drug.
Platelet aggregation

It may be used in the synthesis of palladium complexes like [sperH₃]₂[PdCl₄]₃, [PdCl₂(sperH)]₂[PdCl₄], and [(PdCl₂)₃(sper)₂] by reacting with K₂PdCl₄ and PdCl₂.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Inhibits neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS). Binds and precipitates DNA; Stimulates T₄ polynucleotide kinase activity.

Other Notes

Buffer component for chromosome isolation in bivariate flow cytogenetic analysis and sorting.
