General description

The Apelin C-Terminus Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) Kit is an in vitro quantitative assay for detecting Apelin C-Terminus peptide based on the principle of Competitive Enzyme Immunoassay. The EIA-APC-1 kit detects all active Apelin peptides, including Apelin-13, Apelin-28, Apelin-31 and Apelin-36.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Apelin (APLN) is secreted by white adipose tissue. It is an adipokine which has a role in tumor cell progression and vascularization. The protein may have a role in obesity-related disorders. APLN is involved in modulating energy homeostasis, water balance, glucose metabolism and immunity. It has been shown to be upregulated in many cancers.
