• Spectrophotometric Determination of Pharmaceuticals: Potassium permanganate is widely used in the spectrophotometric determination of pharmaceutical compounds. For example, it has been employed in the oxidative derivatization of beta-blockers such as atenolol and propranolol in alkaline medium, enabling the sensitive and accurate quantification of these drugs in pharmaceutical formulations. This method provides a rapid and cost-effective approach for pharmaceutical analysis (Vaikosen et al., Reviews in Analytical Chemistry, 2020).


• Environmental Monitoring: Potassium permanganate is used in environmental studies to oxidize and determine pollutants in water and soil samples. It is particularly effective in the oxidation of organic contaminants, facilitating their detection through various analytical techniques.
