General description

Triethylamine (TEA, Et3N) is an aliphatic amine. Its addition to matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) matrices affords transparent liquid matrices with enhanced ability for spatial resolution during MALDI mass spectrometric (MS) imaging. A head-space gas chromatography (GC) procedure for the determination of triethylamine in active pharmaceutical ingredients has been reported. The viscosity coefficient of triethylamine vapor over a range of density and temperature has been measured.

Application

Triethylamine has been used during the synthesis of:
  • 5′-dimethoxytrityl-5-(fur-2-yl)-2′-deoxyuridine
  • 3′-(2-cyanoethyl)diisopropylphosphoramidite-5′-dimethoxytrityl-5-(fur-2-yl)-2′-deoxyuridine
  • polyethylenimine600-β-cyclodextrin (PEI600-β-CyD)
It may be used as a homogeneous catalyst for the preparation of glycerol dicarbonate, via transesterification reaction between glycerol and dimethyl carbonate (DMC).

Packaging

18 L packaged in closed-head steel drums; 100 mL, 500 mL, 2 L, 6×500 mL, 4 L packaged in glass bottles; 200 L packaged in Kilo-Lab™ steel cylinders

Questions

1–6 of 6 Questions
  1. Does the bottle have septum on it? I’m looking for anyhdrous Et3N with septum so it’s anyhdrous for 100%.

    1 answer
    1. This product is packaged in a sure seal container with a septum. The material is not specifically lited as anhydrous, but has a stringent moisture specification of ≤ 0.1 %..

      Helpful?

  2. Is this product anyhdrous?

    1 answer
    1. This product is not specifically listed as an anhydrous product. However, the maximum acceptable water content is 0.1%.

  3. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  4. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

  5. Hello, I would like to know the molarity of this product Triethylamine 471283-100ML and in what it is? I tried to read it this information on the picture but it’s too small and not clear… Thank you for your help!

    1 answer
    1. The concentration of this product can be determined using the lot specific purity reported in the Certificate of Analysis, the density, and the compound molecular weight. This product has a density of 0.726 g/mL and a molecular weight of 101.19 g/mol. The minimum purity is 99.5%, thus the molarity will vary slightly from lot to lot. The molarity can range from 7.14M (99.5%) to 7.17M (100%).
