The Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell Characterization Kit (Catalog Number SCR067) contains a panel of positive and negative selection markers for the characterization of the mesenchymal stem cell population in human samples Positive cell markers include antibodies directed against cell-surface molecules present on mesenchymal stem cells: CD44, CD90, STRO-1, and CD146. In addition, two specific hematopoeitic cell surface markers are provided whose expressions should not be present on mesenchymal stem cells: CD14 (present on leukocytes) and CD19 (present on B-lymphocytes).

When stored at the recommended storage conditions (refer to Kit Components), components are stable up to the expiration date. Do not expose to elevated temperatures. Discard any remaining reagents after the expiration date.

We have collaborated with Plasticell Ltd. to develop OsteoMAX-XF™, a novel, serum-free, xeno-free, differentiation medium for the generation of osteoblasts from human MSCs. This medium may be particularly suitable for drug discovery and clinical development. By screening roughly 3,500 combinations of serum and xeno-free media, we discovered a remarkably efficient, fully defined, reproducible medium to promote the differentiation of hMSCs into osteoblasts, offering an excellent, cost effective method to produce large amounts of human bone cells for multiple applications.

As the focus of stem cell research undergoes a transition from animal to human models, researchers are in critical need of validated products to support the isolation, maintenance, differentiation, and characterization of human stem cells. While many reagents designed for rodent systems can be applied to human stem cell studies, they are not truly optimized for robust human stem cell culture or analysis.
