Application
Mutanolysin wurde in einer Studie zur Untersuchung des Lysierens und Erzeugens von Protoplasten aus Streptococci aus Milchprodukten eingesetzt. Es wurde außerdem in einer Studie zur Untersuchung der Umwandlung von Streptococci der Gruppe B zu Protoplasten eingesetzt. Es bietet eine sanfte Zelllyse zur Isolation von leicht abbaubaren Biomolekülen und RNA aus Bakterien. Es wird zur Bildung von Sphäroblasten zur Isolation von DNA eingesetzt.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Mutanolysin ist eine N-Acetylmuramidase. Wie auch Lysozym ist es ein muralytisches Enzym, das die β-N-Acetylmuramyl-(1→4)-N-acetylglucosaminbindung des Bakterienzellwandpolymers Peptidoglykan-Polysaccharid spaltet. Seine carboxyterminalen Molekülteile sind an der Erkennung und Bindung von einzigartigen Zellwandpolymeren beteiligt. Mutanolysin lysiert Listeria und andere grampositive Bakterien wie Lactobacillus und Lactococcus.
Mutanolysin spaltet die β-N-Acetylmuramyl-(1→4)-N-acetylglucosaminbindung des Bakterienzellwandpolymers Peptidoglykan-Polysaccharid. Es lysiert Listeria und andere grampositive Bakterien wie Lactobacillus und Lactococcus.
