Application

Diosmetin has been used to test its protective effects on chronic stress memory and cognitive impairment in mice model.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Diosmetin exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antimicrobial, phytoestrogenic, and neuroprotective properties.[1] It displays cytoprotective effects against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI) by inhibiting nucleotide-binding domain (NOD)-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome and activating nuclear factor erythroid 2–related factor 2 (Nrf2).[2]

Flavonoid from Citrus limon. Antioxidant. Inhibits carcinogen activation by inhibiting the CYP1A1 enzyme.

General description

Diosmetin is a methylated aglycone flavone of diosmin.[3] It is present abundantly in citrus fruits, Olea europaea L. (olive tree) leaves[1], and in the legume of Acacia farnesiana tree.[3]
