Mitex^™ membrane is unbacked, yet is easy to handle, combining the convenience of a backed membrane with the versatility of a pure PTFE membrane. Mitex^™ membrane is hydrophobic.

Mitex^™ Membrane Filter has been used in the ammonium diffusion method to measure the 15N atom percentage excess of NH₄⁺ and NO₃ in soil extracts. It has also been used in horizontal infiltration experiments using unsaturated sand columns.
