Application
Polyguanylic acid potassium salt has been used:
- as a ligand for surface neuropilin-1 (NRP1) for internalization studies
- for intercalation studies with trisubstituted and disubstituted triazole-linked phenyl derivatives CL41, CL42 and CL2r50 using voltammetry method
- as a synthetic polynucleotide for agarose gel electrophoresis analysis
Polyguanylic acid (PolyG) is used to study the effects of ionizing radiation on formation and stability of G-quadruplex structures and as a target molecule for physicochemical studies of electronic excitation (vibrational spectra) of guanosine.

What is the average length of the poly(g) chains?

Unfortunately, this product is not tested to determine the molecular weight and information is limited. The length of poly(g) chains is not determined. Polyguanylic acid is a mixture of different and wide ranging molecules, therefore the number of bases is not determined. There is no size limiting or selecting step during the production process. Historical information is available on past lots, which were assayed by both LALLS assay and a formaldehyde denaturing system. Analysis using the denaturing system indicates a wide range of <80,000 to 500,000 with the greatest density at <80,000 to 210,000 . Two past lots have been analyzed by LALLS resulting in estimated molecular weights of 385,000 and 482,000 daltons.
