Cytosolic sulfotransferase (SULT)-mediated sulfation is generally known to involve the transfer of a sulfonate group from the active sulfate, 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS), to a hydroxyl group or an amino group of a substrate compound.
