La seroalbúmina sérica se ha utilizado-
- junto con la BTS (disolución de descongelamiento Beltsville), para la extensión del esperma durante el análisis de movimiento de los espermatozoides[1]
- como componente del tampón Krebs-Ringer modificado (dmKRBT)[2]
- en el análisis de retardo en gel[3]
- como bloqueante en inmunocitoquímica, inmunohistoquímica,(4) protocolo de inmunofluorescencia y enzimoinmunoanálisis adsorbente (ELISA) en sandwich
- como componente de la disolución salina tamponada con fosfato (PBS) para resuspender las células con el fin de analizarlas durante la citometría de flujo
- como patrón proteico para cuantificar las proteínas en muestras de tejido mediante el método de Bradford’

General description
La seroalbúmina bovina (BSA) es una proteína plasmática globular, no glucosilada α-helicoidal producida en el hígado bovino. Consta de tres dominios (I, II y III), cada uno de ellos con dos sub-dominios (A y B), dispuestos en una estructura en forma de corazón.
Preparation Note
A menudo denominada fracción V de Cohn, este producto se prepara mediante un método modificado del método de Cohn de fraccionamiento del etanol en frío.
La seroalbúmina puede denominarse también Fracción V. Esta convención de nomenclatura procede del método original de fraccionamiento de las proteínas séricas de Cohn en el que se utiliza precipitación en etanol frío. Utilizando dicho método, la seroalbúmina se encontró en la fracción quinta del etanol. Desde entonces, algunos han venido utilizando la expresión «Fracción V» para describir la albúmina sérica, al margen del método de preparación. Otros han utilizado este término para describir la seroalbúmina purificada por métodos de fraccionamiento en etanol que se han modificado mucho desde que se describió el método Cohn original. Sigma-Aldrich fabrica y distribuye seroalbúminas purificadas mediante una variedad de métodos primarios, entre ellos el verdadero método de fraccionamiento de Cohn, los métodos de fraccionamiento en etanol modificados, el fraccionamiento térmico y la cromatografía. We have not tested A2153 in quality control for use in immunoblotting applications as a blocking agent. Because it contains globulins, we would generally not recommend A2153 for use as a blocking agent.
