该MQuant®总硬度测试（原MColortest®）适用于使用刻度注射器进行滴定法检测。可用于检测：

钙离子和镁离子与指示剂反应形成红色络合物。用乙二胺四乙酸二钠盐溶液滴定，从该化合物中释放出指示剂(Titriplex® III)。在滴定终点，颜色变为绿色。根据滴定溶液的消耗量测定总硬度。
