The LiChrospher Si 100 (5um) Hibar TS 250-4 HPLC column is suitable for use in normal phase and HILIC modes, as well as SFC. For water-insoluble compounds that are organic solvent soluble, normal phase mode is the mode of choice. The mobile phase for normal phase mode includes n-hexane, n-heptane, dichloromethane, and dichloroethane, with small amounts of diethyl ether, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, acetone, isopropanol, ethanol, or methanol as modifiers to shorten retention time. An example is 95% hexane/5% ethyl acetate. The combination of solvents used depends on the analytes of interest.
