General description

A cell-permeable, TAT conjugated peptide derived from the protein tyrosine phosphatase sigma (PTPsigma) wedge domain that binds to PTPsigma and relieves glial-derived chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (CSPG)-mediated inhibition. Shown to cross the blood-brain barrier. Does not bind to other CSPG receptors, such as LAR and NgRs. By blocking the PTPsigma-CSPG interaction it abolishes CSPG -mediated inhibition of axonal regrowth and sprouting. Shown to promote adult sensory neuron growth cone (~ 2.5 µM). Restores serotonergic innervations to the spinal cord below the level of injury and promotes progressive functional recovery of both locomotor and urinary systems after spinal cord injury in a rat model (11 µg/day).

Please note that the molecular weight for this compound is batch-specific due to variable water content. Please refer to the vial label or the certificate of analysis for the batch-specific molecular weight. The molecular weight provided represents the baseline molecular weight without water.

Questions

  1. Is it okay to store aliquots at 4C for several weeks rather than go through multiple freeze-thaw cycles?

    1 answer
    1. The stability of stock solutions stored at 4 °C has not been investigated. To avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may cause degradation, aliquots may be prepared in single use volumes for storage at −20°C.
