The dye does not substantially affect cell viability and is considered non-toxic. Determining the optimal dye incubation time for specific cells is necessary. Please see the staining protocol on the website under View all Documentation-> More Documents-> Data sheets. The dye primarily localizes to cell surface membranes shortly after staining. In live cells, the stained membranes become internalized by endocytosis, resulting in primarily intracellular staining over the course of a few hours in culture.

General description
Unlike PKH dyes, BioTracker Cytoplasmic Membrane Dyes do not require a complicated hypoosmotic labeling protocol. They are ready-to-use dye delivery solutions that can be added directly to normal culture media to label suspended or adherent cells in culture.

Can this product be used to bind to cell membrane of human smooth muscle cells?
1 answer-
This product is a lipophilic carbocyanine membrane dye, it is not species-specific. This compound is not tested specifically with human smooth muscle, however, there is no reason to suspect that this material would not be suitable.
