Application

Corn steep solids are an inexpensive nutritional supplement for a wide variety of industrial microbiological processes. For example, this material was used in production of cellulase from a fungal endophyte,[1] as an adjunct to bioethanol production.
Corn steep solids are soluble and may be used as a nitrogen source in several medium and cell culture conditions. This can give rise to biomasses that are rich in proteins and poor in acidic polysaccharides

Questions

  1. What proportion do you need to dilute?

    1 answer
    1. This product is typically used as a nutritive component in various microbiological media. This product is not tested for suitability. The researcher would have to determine the appropriate dilution for their specific requirements. However, you may want to review the Corn Steep Liquor product information. 'A viscous concentrate of corn soluble, rich in vitamins, amino acids, minerals and other growth stimulants. Contains approx. 50% (w/w) solids.'. Corn steep liquor medium (see ATCC 1716 formulation) included 50 ml/L of corn steep liquor. Please see the link below to this product page.
