Inibitore selettivo della COX−1.
Il resveratrolo è stato utilizzato:
  • in esperimenti sull′intrappolamento
  • per studiare il suo effetto neuroprotettivo sulla morte delle cellule neuronali retiniche che viene mediata dall′attivazione della protein-chinasi II dipendente da Ca2+/calmodulina indotta dal diabete
  • come standard nella valutazione del contenuto di stilbene nelle foglie di vite mediante fluorometria in vivo

Biochem/physiol Actions

Il resveratrolo è una fitoalessina fenolica presente nella buccia d′uva e in altre piante. Esercita un′attività antiossidante intracellulare e attiva la sirtuina 1 (SIRT1), un′istone deacetilasi dipendente dal nicotinammide adenina dinucleotide (NAD+) coinvolta nella biogenesi mitocondriale e nella promozione dell′attività del coattivatore-1a del recettore g-attivato dei proliferatori dei perossisomi (PGC-1a) e di FOXO (forkhead box). Le azioni anti-diabetiche, neuroprotettive e anti-adipogeniche del resveratrolo possono essere mediate tramite l′attivazione della SIRT1. Il resveratrolo svolge un′azione antivirale contro il virus dell′Herpes simplex-1 (HSV1) e HSV2. Mostra inoltre attività biologiche antitumorali e fitoestrogeniche. Il resveratrolo è noto per la sua capacità di prolungare la vita in molte specie tramite la mediazione di diversi eventi fisiologici.

Preparation Note

Solubile in etanolo, DMSO e acetone. Solo lievemente solubile in acqua (3 mg/100 mL).

  1. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  2. Can a resveratrol solution turn red?

    1. Solubility is tested in acetone, resulting in a faint yellow color. In acidic conditions, resveratrol can appear more reddish. In neutral or alkaline conditions, resveratrol will appear yellowish or colorless. Oxidation of resveratrol may also change its color, potentially leading to a reddish hue. Resveratrol is highly oxidizable and reacts readily with reactive oxygen species.

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.     1. A 5 mM solution of R5010 in ethanol has been found to be stable for 12 weeks when stored at 2-8°C and protected from light.Given a molecular weight of 228.24, a 5 mM solution is approximately 1.1 mg/mL.Reference: D.M. Goldberg, et al., J. Chrom. A, 708, 89-98 (1995).

    1. We test the solubility in ethanol at a concentration of 50 mg/mL.  It is also soluble at 16 mg/mL in DMSO (with sonication). It is practically insoluble in water.
