Application

Hydroxyethylcellulose is used as a gelling and thickening agent in the development of biostructures for the delivery of hydrophobic drugs. Hydroxyethylcellulose is used in the development of polymer networks and block copolymers useful in separation technology such as capillary electrophoresis and in biofilms and coatings.

Runmiao Yang et al.
Electrophoresis, 29(7), 1460-1466 (2008-04-04)
We present cationized hydroxyethylcellulose (cat-HEC) synthesized in our laboratory as a novel physically adsorbed coating for CE. This capillary coating is simple and easy to obtain as it only requires flushing the capillary with polymer aqueous solution. A comparative study

Journal of separation science, 34(23), 3441-3450 (2011-11-01)
To stabilize electroosmotic flow (EOF) and suppress protein adsorption onto the silica capillary inner wall, a cationic hydroxyethylcellulose-graft-poly (poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate) (cat-HEC-g-PPEGMA) graft copolymer composed of cationic backbone and bottle brush-like side chains was synthesized for the first
Fuhu Cao et al.
Electrophoresis, 32(10), 1148-1155 (2011-04-19)
In this work, a novel graft copolymer, hydroxyethylcellulose-graft-poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (HEC-g-PDMAEMA), used as physical coatings of the bare fused-silica capillaries, was synthesized by using ceric ammonium nitrate initiator in aqueous nitric acid solution. EOF measurement results showed that the synthesized HEC-g-PDMAEMA
