General description

Syntaxin 7 is a 35kDa protein and is a member of t-Soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor activating protein receptor (SNARE) protein family. It is widely expressed in multiple tissues.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 131-149 located at the mid-region of rat syntaxin 7, conjugated to KLH. This sequence is highly conserved (two amino acid substitutions) in mouse and human syntaxin 7 (~80% identity).

Application

Anti-Syntaxin 7 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunofluorescence.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Syntaxin 7, localized on membrane compartments of late endosomes, facilitates fusion of late endosomes with lysosomes. The protein also helps in lysosomal biogenesis. Mutant syntaxin 7 lacking the transmembrane domain blocks endocytic transport from the early to late endosome. Syntaxin 7 has been described to play an important role during phagocytosis.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
