General description

We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products that adhere to one of the four categories of Greener Alternatives. This enabling product offers improved color performance and luminous efficiency compared to classical Cd quantum dots, making it a superior choice for display technologies and lighting applications. Its enhanced properties not only produce vibrant colors but also reduce energy consumption, contributing to energy-efficient solutions. Click here for more information.
Graphene quantum dots (GQDs), sheets of few-layered graphene and lateral dimensions smaller than 100 nm, possess strong quantum confinement and edge effects. Thus, they possess unique physical properties such as strong photoluminescence, which can be tailored for specific applications by controlling their size, shape, defects, and functionality. In contrast to classic QDs, such as metal or silicon quantum dots, GQDs are biocompatible, photo-stable, and inherit superior thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties from the graphene. These features can greatly contribute to various state-of-the-art applications:
  • Optical brighteners.
  • Taggants for security application.
  • Bio-imaging markers.
  • Fluorescent polymers.
  • Antibacterial, antibiofouling, disinfection systems.
  • Heavy metals, humidity and pressure sensors.
  • Batteries.
  • Flash memory devices.
  • Photovoltaic devices.
  • Light-emitting diodes.

Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. They are carboxylated on surface or else?

    1 answer
    1. Based on the FTIR analysis results of the Green QDs, the surface is assessed to be functionalized with hydroxyl (-OH), carboxyl (-COOH), and amine (-NH2) groups.

      Helpful?

  2. What surfactant is used to disperse the QDs in water?

    1 answer
    1. This product is provided as a suspension of graphene quantum dots in pure water, at a nominal concentration of 1 mg/mL. It does not already contain a surfactant, so it certainly may contain some aggregated or agglomerated material. If you would like to add a surfactant to the existing suspension to help disperse the quantum dots, you may use one that is compatible with your downstream application. The manufacturer of these graphene quantum dots does not recommend any specific surfactant.

      Helpful?

  3. Hi I am interested in the graphene dots for toxicity study but i am wondering if you could clarify the concentration of >0.005% in H2O part. Does that mean >50ppm? is it possible to provide me the exact concentration in ppm (and FWHM, ex/em)? thanks!

    1 answer
    1. This product is not offered as a percent solution. The concentration is 1 mg/mL. The density of this preparation is 1.008 g/mL. To convert the unit to ppm, 1 mg/mL / 1.008 g/mL = 0.000992 mg/mg = 992 ppm. The FWHM and ex/em wavelength are listed on the product detail page as below:
      λex: 485 nm
      λem: 530 nm ±10 nm
      FWHM: 80 nm
