General description

N-Acetyl-Asp-Glu-Val-Asp-al (Ac-DEVD-CHO) is a tetrapeptide with N-terminal acetylation and C-terminal aldehyde conjugation.[1]

Application

N-Acetyl-Asp-Glu-Val-Asp-al has been used as a caspase inhibitor in muscle samples,[2] smooth muscle cells[3] and Jurkat T-cells.[4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

N-Acetyl-Asp-Glu-Val-Asp-al (Ac-DEVD-CHO) aids in the recovery of stunned myocardium by its caspase inhibition functionality.[1]
Reversible inhibitor of IL-1β converting enzyme (ICE); inhibits poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase cleavage by apopain (caspase 3).
