Application

HEPES has been used:
  • As a component of SAPI medium used for the culturing of S. Typhymurium inoculum[1]
  • To prepare differentiation medium for PC12 cells. It is also a component of culture medium RPMI[2][3]
  • As a component of dissection buffer for culturing rat cortical neurons[4]
  • Along with MgCl2, KCl and Spermine in hypotonic buffer in mGRASP method to detect mammalian synapses[5]
  • As a component of Danieu′s aquarium water used in agarose gel preparation[6]

General description

HEPES has been described as one of the best all-purpose buffers available for biological research.[7] At biological pH, the molecule is zwitterionic, and is effective as a buffer at pH 6.8 to 8.2. HEPES has been used in a wide variety of applications, including tissue culture. It is commonly used to buffer cell culture media in air. HEPES finds its usage in in vitro experiments on Mg.[8]

  1. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  2. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.   4. 해당 HEPES buffer solution 에 HEPES 분자 외에 다른 salt 들 (ex. Na, K 등) 은 없는 상태인가요? 단순히 물에 HEPES 분자가 풀려있는 상황인지 궁금합니다.

    1. This product is comprised only of HEPES in water. There are no other salts or additives present in the material.
