Human F3 / Tissue Factor ELISA Kit has been used to measure the concentration of soluble tissue factor (TF) expressed in human umbilical vein smooth muscle cells (HUVSMCs).[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Tissue factor (TF) interacts with the zymogen factor VII (VII) and its activated form VIIa, and initiates blood coagulation protease cascade.[1][2] The encoded protein is involved in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension, atherosclerosis, acute coronary syndrome and restenosis. Thus, it is considered to be a potential therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases.[1]

General description

The antibody pair provided in this kit recognizes human Coagulation Factor III/Tissue Factor.

Tissue factor (TF), also known as coagulation factor III (F3), is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 1p21.3.[3] TF has been shown to exist in two forms, namely membrane-bound and soluble TF.[1] The encoded protein contains an extracellular domain (ED), a single transmembrane domain (TD) and short cytoplasmic domain (CD).[4]
