Application

Sulfathiazole is used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in meat,[1][2] and honey[3] samples using different chromatography techniques.

General description

Sulfathiazole is a broad-spectrum antibacterial drug,[3] belonging to the class of sulfonamides, used in veterinary and human medication for the treatment of infections. It is also involved in promoting growth of livestock and fish.[2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

スルホンアミド系抗生物質で、ジヒドロプテロイン酸シンタ-ゼを阻害することにより、ジヒドロ葉酸の合成を阻害します。
作用機序:原核生物における葉酸合成を阻害します。
抗菌スペクトル:グラム陽性菌、グラム陰性菌、クラミジア
耐性機序:ジヒドロプテロイン酸シンタ-ゼの変異または別の葉酸合成経路の利用。
