General description

Transforming growth factor β receptor 2 (TGFBR2) is a member of the TGFß receptor subfamily and is a serine/threonine protein kinase. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 3p24.1.[1][2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Transforming growth factor β receptor 2 (TGFBR2)-induced protein phosphorylation plays a key role in signal transduction that leads to mitogenic responses.[3] The TGFBR2 receptor transmits signals from the cell surface to the nucleus and provides instructions for making transforming growth factor (TGF)-β type II receptor. Mutations in TGFBR2 gene have been associated with Marfan syndrome, Loeys-Deitz aortic aneurysm syndrome and the development of various types of tumors.[4][5][6][7]

Physical form

Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.
