Biochem/physiol Actions

PLK1 (polo like kinase 1) is predominantly involved in mitosis. It mediates the phosphorylation of cyclin B1/CDK1 (cyclin dependent kinase 1) complex, and activation of the anaphase promoting complex. PLK1 has anti-apoptotic function. Upregulation of gene is observed in different types of cancer, such as colorectal cancer and is regarded as an oncogene. PLK1 is involved in checkpoint recovery and adaptation following DNA damage.[1][2][3]

General description

PLK1 (polo like kinase 1) gene is mapped to human chromosome 16p12.2. It codes for the protein serine/threonine kinase.[1][4]

Physical form

Supplied in 50 mM Sodium Phosphate, pH 7.0, with 150 mM imidazole, 0.1 mM PMSF, 0.2 mM DTT, and 25% glycerol.

During mitosis, the vertebrate cell nucleus undergoes profound changes in architecture. At the onset of mitosis, the nuclear envelope breaks down, the nuclear lamina is depolymerized, and interphase chromatin is condensed to chromosomes. Concomitantly, cytoplasmic microtubules are reorganized into a
