General description

Recombinant mouse Interleukin‑2 (IL‑2) is an immunomodulatory cytokine expressed in Escherichia coli and supplied as a lyophilized powder. IL‑2 is commonly used in mammalian cell culture research involving immune cell growth and activation studies in vitro.

Application

Recombinant mouse IL‑2 has been used in mammalian cell culture research applications, including lymphocyte culture, immune cell activation, and cytokine‑response studies in vitro.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin‑2 (IL‑2) is a cytokine that supports proliferation and maintenance of activated T cells and related cell types. IL-2 participates in T cell proliferation and differentiation and controls the homeostasis of T cell. It has been extensively studied in in vitro immune‑related cell culture models.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in 10 mM sodium citrate, pH 4.0.

Analysis Note

Activity was determined by dose-dependent stimulation of murine CTLL-2 cells. ED₅₀ : ≤ 0.2 ng/ml (corresponds to a specific activity of 5 × 10⁶ units/mg)

  The vial content and EC50 values are lot-specific and reported on the product Certificate of Analysis. The vial content will range from 20-26 µg and the EC50 will be a maximum of 0.2 ng/mL. An EC50 of 0.2 ng/ml corresponds to 5,000,000 units/mg.
